I am a strong believer of stories. I find them the most effective and the finest way of conveying a message. It doesn’t matter what kind of message, how technical it is or who is the person you are interacting with, a good story can carry you all the way to the top without even noticing it. In that sense, it is like a friend you keep in your mind and gets out whenever needed the most.

In one of the most technical lines of the business world, data science, this friend is more useful than you can imagine. Especially when your message is “data strategy is important to have” and you are struggling with the response “why?” in return from the business units that you need support from. To make it easier for you, and easier for them to understand “why they need to allocate their resources to create something they are not sure that will improve the existing operational efficacy” here is my friend you can take to your meetings with executives. You are welcome!

“Imagine you are in a forest full of trees. You are in a path that you have beaten many times before, followed by everyone in the industry, bumpy, full of uneven, broken stacks of wood. But it is familiar. You know where to put your step, you know the location of fruit trees on your way and you know these fruity trees were enough to keep you alive in the past. You just do not know what the future will bring and there is a light wind approaching everyone was whispering about. Nothing else.
